Roxikat body, feet and tail(HUGE project)

The chest is just pinned on in this picture, so towards the neck is a little flappy. It gives you a good idea of what it'll look like though. Working with spandex was a *nightmare* stretched over a form- especially since "Mom the self acclaimed sewing genius" gave me terrible advice and possible bad serging thread. THANKS MOM. Fortunately for me I am a smartie-pants and sewed double(Stretchy) seams on everything. The chest was handsewn on(What a huge pain!) I think it came out wonderfully for lack of seams. Later we added some snaps to the sides for attaching it, so it has some divets where the snaps are attached now, but it looks just fine, being spandex and all. All in all I think this came out really good. Two bodysuits later, lmao. We scrapped the first one because it just wasn't working, and redid it totally.Here's the result.

Here's one of the feet. It's exactly according to his drawings, which can be found here. There's some light pink on the bottoms of the feet in the pictures, but it was un-doable IRL because of the tension a horizontal seam would have caused, causing huge unsightly wrinkles. The sandals have an interesting story to them- we attempted to sew the spandex down, only to be greeted with unsightly, crooked seams(Because blind top-stitching against a hard(hot glued) background is nigh on impossible! I gave it about three hours of effort, and then gave up lol). When we tried hot glue, it seeped through and looked REALLY GROSS. So mirabem came up with the idea of having cute little sandals instead. She pointed out some yoga-mat type material she uses for feet bottoms, and we attached that to the bottom to extend their shelf life, minimising contact with the ground from the spandex(Which wears out really easily from physical contact). The thing underneath the foot is the tail, which is amost entirely handsewn. This was probobly the ONLY easy part of this commission, and even then I had to topstitch some of the side spikes :3 But that was easy pie after making the feet(Which went through about four versions before we made some we like).

Here are the sandals and a top view of the feet. I later serged and cuffed the right hand foot.

<lj-embed id="1" />
</lj-embed>

Overall time spent on this monster so far: About 6 months!!!
Materials used: Waaaay more than I would have liked :3 We went through at least two versions of everything, and most of the foam had to be scrapped because of how it was attached XD
Stuff left to do: The hairpiece on the head and then its DONNNE.

</lj-embed>
The only thing I didnt like about it was the ears were slightly uneven. But on well, they looked cood so I don't care. The paws came out great(Little cut off fingerless glove markings <3), and the tail came out even better than I'm used to for pattern tails <3 All in all a rousing success! All I need to do now is work on evening out my ears. I think its shearing from adding material. I'm not sure.
Okay so I know most of you watch my 'not fursuit stuff' LJ because my life is interesting(or at least tumultuous!) or something, but for those who don't.. because of a hurried move I am currently on hiatus for a short period of time. While I will do what I can to churn out orders, I am not in the best situation to be working on schtuffs. So, I will announce this to make sure everyone is aware of possible delays in their orders.
Due to moving, all current orders are on HOLD until february. The delays shouldn't affect anyones orders who were due from march on, but price quotes in february should expect some delays.

Sorry for the inconvinience,
www.artslave.biz

Gosh that was official sounding :O Honestly I don't think it'll be too bad, but just in case. I can bang out a pair of feet in a few days still, and heads are still right on! But only hand sewn stuff atm, so no bodysuits :O

Apparently fully enclosed moulds need a soft layer on the interior, instead of my usual fully gypsum mould. This means I'll either have to buy silicon, or buy another 5 gallons of latex and release agent. arrrrghhhlee. My OTHER option is to just use all open moulds :O That will be insane and result in LOTS of mould line cleaning. arrrgh.
stupid latex.

Bonus feature: My auction sold, numnumnum. To a polish dude who wanted a full bodysuit to go with it. Nomnomnom. Going to fix up my camera once the payment goes thru. Tonight will finish up these arms(Left one at MICA by accident, a friend is bringing it to me today in 5 hours) and see about pooping out some pictures somehow. Might have to get a disposable camera or something to have them approved for casting >.> I still want to do the claws and horns in plastic, but then they wouldn't match the head lexx made so I has no idea. I guess I'll just stick to hard latex :)

Excited. Once they're cast, I'm going to begin the upper arms. Not sure if I want the shoulders to be part of the torso or upper arm yet.
